Short term accommodation during London 2012 Olympics
London will host the Olympic Games between 27 July - 12 August and the Paralympic Games between 29 August - 9 September 2012 and with millions of people expected accommodation will be in great demand.
With millions of visitors expected to London during the Olympic period, short term accommodation and holiday lettings are expected to be in great demand. With there only being a limited amount of hotel accommodation available it is expected that the majority of visitors to the Games may opt for private, short term rentals, not only in Stratford, but across London and surrounding areas.
With such high demand for accommodation during the Olympics, many homeowners and existing landlords are considering letting out their property on a short term rental agreement.
With properties in such high demand over the Olympic period, rental prices are expected to soar and so we are advising landlords to contact ourselves at their earliest convenience in order to capitalize on this fantastic opportunity.
Landlords and property owners looking to let their property out on a short term let basis during the games will need to consider the following:
Tenants who take short term lets will expect the property to be fully equipped much like a hotel room ie, furnishings, main electrical items to include televisions, kitchen appliances, crockery ,cutlery, bed linen, towels etc. Depending on the length of term a cleaning service will also need to be considered with a clean expected at least weekly but in some cases maybe daily.

To protect our landlords and their property we will require the following from every tenant before we grant occupation.
- Full payment of term in advance
- One month’s rent as deposit
- Copy of Passport
- Completed application of personal information
As properties are let on a short term basis a holiday letting contract will normally be used. This does not come under the housing act 1988 and therefore gives landlords far more protection in ensuring tenants vacate at the end of their stay.
